The path from Taormina is currently being beautifully renovated. There's some construction work in the middle. Otherwise, the path is a dream.

At the beginning of the Centro Storico. There is always a lot going on here. The buses stop here and the cable car passengers head for the entrance.

2月 19, 2024, Sentiero dei Saraceni
This ancient, little-known footpath offers a unique way to explore the breathtaking beauty of Sicily off the beaten tourist path. From Taormina, the entrance to the Sentiero dei Saraceni is not easy to find, which only increases the appeal of this path. Hikers are rewarded with a fantastic view that constantly unfolds during the ascent or descent. The view extends from majestic Etna to the deep blue waters of the Ionian Sea, framed by the rolling hills and diverse vegetation that characterize this region. It is recommended to climb the official hiking trail to Castelmola and choose the Sentiero dei Saraceni for the descent. This makes it possible to fully enjoy the beauty of the landscape without having to go back the same way. The path leads past gardens and meadows, a testament to Sicily's agricultural traditions. Although parts of the path were once illuminated, today only ruins of lamps remain as evidence of the vandalism that did not stop at this idyllic place. But even this adds a certain melancholy and history to the Sentiero dei Saraceni that makes the hike even more unforgettable.

2月 19, 2024, Porta Messina
As a remnant of a once mighty fortress wall through which the history of the place runs, this natural stone building invites you to immerse yourself in a world full of charm and history. When strolling along the lively Corso Umberto, Taormina's lifeline, there is no way past the Porta Messina. This gate not only marks the entrance to the tourist, medieval center, but also the beginning of a journey through time and culture. It is the point where the modern hustle and bustle fades into the background and the visitor is welcomed by the picturesque beauty of Taormina. The streets that stretch behind Porta Messina are lined with picturesque shops and small alleys that invite you to linger and explore. The famous archway opens onto a world where the Middle Ages meets the Mediterranean, offering a first taste of what makes Taormina so unique. The town itself, built on a terrace of Monte Tauro, about 200 meters above sea level, offers breathtaking views of the Ionian Sea, with Messina to the north and Catania to the south. Mount Etna, Europe's highest and most active volcano, provides a striking backdrop to this historic gem.

I think the 10 euro entrance fee for the theater is absolutely justified. After all, the second largest in Sicily.
