A legendary story A witch remains a witch – a legendary wine. For us, this claim is more than a promise. The story of the "Witch of Dasenstein" begins with a famous legend from 1356, which is said to have taken place here in the enchanting vineyards, and culminates in our legendary wine from Kappelrodeck. A beautiful damsel of noble stature once fell in love with a farmer's son. The lord of Rodeck Castle could not tolerate this love and chased his own daughter down into the valley. Without a home or land, she was also spurned by the farmer's son, and so she lived in Dasenstein from then on. She planted vines around her rocky cave. She is said to have played many a prank on the people. And soon she was the "Witch of Dasenstein." Thus, the fine wines from the red wine community were named after her. Even today, after too much consumption of the legendary wine, people say, "He has a witch!" – how true. Because a witch remains a witch – a legendary wine. The Famous Legend of the Witch of Dasenstein A long time ago, on Rodeck, a castle maiden suffered much heartache. She loved a peasant boy, so the knight chased her down. The poor woman lived in Dasenstein and planted vines all around her. But when she was ugly and old, people even called her a witch. So she played many a foolish prank, near Dasenstein in the vineyards. And lived in the rocky hole, many years later, still. The wine from there, named after her, is now known throughout the country. That is the "Witch of Dasenstein." A delicious Burgundy wine. "He's got a witch," they say, if one drinks more than he should. Thus, the "Witch of Dasenstein" still reigns supreme over Kappler wine today.
