Today (2025), the structure has been literally—and shamefully—razed to the ground, much to the chagrin of those who called for its restoration. All that remains of the original site is an illegible sign half-covered by vegetation.

The Oratory of the Madonna della Neve (or what remains of it) is located on a stretch of Via della Cava, the road that led from Rosignano Castle to Castiglioncello. The building, which dates back to the late 17th century, was a symbol of Marian worship in Tuscany: dedicated to the Madonna, it was the destination of frequent pilgrimages in the month of May, before it passed into private use and began its gradual decline. In 1816, it was purchased by the Salvetti family, who pledged to ensure its maintenance. However, it was abandoned and slowly allowed to decay, even by subsequent owners, so much so that today it is no longer even clear to whom (private, public, or religious) it belongs. In the early years of this century, it came to the attention of two classes from the Fattori Middle School in Rosignano, who, through careful archival research, studied its history and submitted a project, accompanied by a model, requesting its restoration and enhancement as a historic building in the area and a testament to rural culture. However, this did not seem to be enough to raise awareness among local authorities. From research conducted in the municipal archives by teachers and students of the school, we know that "the little church takes its name from a particular event. During an exceptional snowfall, the oratory's loggia inexplicably remained completely free of snow, offering shelter to chilly pilgrims." The structure is of the gabled type and consists of two rectangular rooms (the oratory itself and a sort of sacristy), preceded by an arched portal and followed by a curious turret-shaped bell tower with only two corner walls. Furthermore, until 1970, the year in which the church was desecrated, there were three tombs and an altar inside, which later disappeared. Today (2021) it appears semi-ruined and overgrown.
