Historian Tarcisio Venuti dates its construction to around the 14th-15th century, although the first documentary mention of it dates back to 1533. The building underwent a radical transformation after the earthquakes of 1511 and 1513, inspired by the Slovenian style of the Škofija Loka school, like many other small churches in the area, but with a style unparalleled for the beauty of the statuettes, placed in the keystones and lateral lunettes, with figurative corbels supported by elegant columns. It was further restored in the 18th century; in 1777, Francesco Colussi created the altarpiece with the Nativity in the center and Saints Peter and Paul on the sides. The 17th-century wooden altar has an altarpiece depicting the Virgin Enthroned with Child; At the base, in an oval, is the Adoration of the Magi, painted by Girolamo Ridolfi da Cividale in 1585. The Sentiero delle Vigne Alte (High Vineyards Trail) runs through vineyards, olive groves, and hills, offering rewarding views and scenery. If you're hiking in this area, it's well worth a visit.
