Sürk cool starting point for Vili Tourene

An absolute highlight that the Jura has to offer. A magnificent route!

The route between Moutier and Delémont is a beautiful route, with mainly decent asphalted surface but there are some places near the industrial areas where the asphalt is a bit rough but overall good a surface. Geological speaking it offers a lot of unusual rock formations creating nice backgrounds for photos. The route and following the River Birse which flows all the way to Basel.

Balsthal is a great starting point leading to 4 nice low level passes (Passwang, Schelten, Hauenstein and Binzberg via Gänsbrunnen). The village itself does offer several restaurants from inexpensive bistros to 3 star restaurants as well as several fountains to fill up your water bottles.

Magnificent spot, little traffic

From Boécourt you have the option of cycling up to La Caquerelle (852m). Over 3.5km you have to overcome 250m of elevation with a medium gradient of 4-5%, with small peaks of 8-10% after leaving Boécourt. You roll past the Carrière "La Malcôte" quarry, where you can see the impressive layers of limestone. Further on, after the village of La Malcôte, you have a beautiful view of the wide countryside.

Short, sharp climb from Bas du Maupas up to Sornetan. With an average gradient of 7-9% with small peaks of up to 12%. The asphalt is great, you can also roll downhill.
