The wayside cross bears the date 1887. It was repainted last year. The treehouse only stood for a few decades. It was dismantled a few weeks ago because it was dilapidated.

Beautifully situated in the woods. Must be a shady spot for a rest in the summer. Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to stop in and try the food...maybe next time.

This is a popular meeting point for starting a bike tour—whether you're on a road bike, city bike, e-bike, or mountain bike. The former field cross is no longer in the middle of the field, but has been pushed to the edge from behind by the Sommerfeld development. The treehouse right next door was built many years ago, partly by schoolchildren during summer vacation, and is still popular with children of all ages (from two to ninety).

This wooden sculpture is not a Native American pole replica, but rather a replica of a Eurasian phalene, which was found in the Shigir Bog and was probably originally about five meters high. Radiocarbon dating has estimated the figure's age at 9,500 BC. The figure here by the roadside is - as of today - just two days old.
