A quaint town nestled in the waters, also known as "Little Venice." The picturesque Comacchio Valleys loop begins here.

1月 8, 2025, Trepponti Bridge
A symbol of the city and one of the most important civic monuments, the Trepponti is also known as Ponte Pallotta, from the name of the cardinal legate Giovan Battista Pallotta, who in the early decades of the seventeenth century ordered its construction by the architect Luca Danese from Ravenna. Located at the crossroads of the four main canals that branch off from the city, it once represented the fortified gateway to the town. The initial design of the pentarch bridge underwent some aesthetic and functional adaptations over the years, until it reached its current appearance: five large staircases culminate in a central elevation completely in Istrian stone, around which two guard towers and six small pillars stand out. The same architect also designed Ponte San Pietro and Ponte degli Sbirri.

9月 13, 2023, Trepponti Bridge
The name Trepponti, originating from the word tre (three) and ponti (bridge) refers to the split in the canal underneath the bridge - however, technically speaking the Trepponti bridge consists of not three but five stone arch bridges, as the Sant'Agostino and San Petro canals that made up the old Comacchio moat also intersect the canal here. The five bridges are connected by a central Istrian stone floor that makes up a small pentagonally-shaped public square, held up by a cross-vaulted ceiling.

Nice little place with a touch of Venice, but not so crowded and overpriced

A small village in the province of Ferrara, Comacchio stands in the middle of the lagoon of the same name, between the Po di Volano and the Po di Comacchio and in ancient times it was built by joining 13 small islands formed at the mouth of the Po di Primario with the sea with bridges. Before suffering the inexorable silting up due to the proximity of the mouth of the River Po, over the centuries it was an important naval port in the Adriatic Sea and one of the fundamental ports for trade in Emilia Romagna. The city today preserves architecture and buildings of great value from its glorious past, as well as the characteristic canals which over time have given it the nickname of "Little Venice". 4月 16, 2023, Cattedrale di San Cassiano e Torre Campanaria
The Cathedral of San Cassiano stands majestically in Piazza XX Settembre. The ancient origins of the diocese are uncertain, a plaque preserved in the sacristy attributes the foundation of the first Romanesque cathedral dedicated to the saint to Bishop Vincenzo in 708. The current one, designed by the Roman architect Angelo Cerruti and consecrated in 1740, appears, especially if contextualized at the time, truly of a disproportionate size when compared to the urban context, which dominates with its imposing size. ... In the square on the side of the cathedral stands the contemporary Bell Tower, the work of the Venetian Giorgio Fossati. At the entrance of the church a pictorial panel illustrates the ambitious original project, which reduced in height, losing its initial impetus, following a collapse which occurred when the work was practically completed in 1757 which left only the Istrian stone base intact. The bell tower was rebuilt after more than a century in 1868. (Source: https://www.ferrarainfo.com/it/comacchio/scopri-il-territorio/arte-e-cultura/chiese-pievi-battisteri/duomo-di-san-cassiano)
