Colle del Melogno (1028 m), a strategic pass between Liguria and Piedmont in the province of Savona, is known for its 19th-century fortifications (Forte Centrale, Tortagna, Settepani) built by the Royal Army (1883-1895) to defend the Tyrrhenian-Po Valley access. Historically, it was the scene of Napoleonic battles (1795) and partisan resistance.

Sleepy and somewhat out of time, the little village sits perched on the saddle between Cucco and the hinterland. There are several options for descending, and the trail to the trails east of Colle di San Giacomo starts here.

Osteria del Din is located at 1,000 meters above sea level with a splendid view of the sea. This section of the 24H of Finale route, between rocks and scree, is quite technical and requires excellent driving skills, but after the steep section a wonderful view of the sea opens up.
