A stretch of the Via Pievaiola that runs from Tavernelle to Piegaro, slowly but steadily ascending until the steep climb to Piegaro, which then leads to the road to Montegabbione. A beautiful road, with some traffic, and beautiful countryside as your travel companion.

A very short distance from Panicale you come across this place that seems suspended in time, called "Le Mura" where there is a nineteenth-century villa of the same name now restored and used as a resort, near the hamlet of Colgiordano.

The first settlements in Panicale date back to 2000 BC. After that, the Etruscans dominated the area, which was located in the immediate vicinity of three cities of the League of Twelve Cities (Arezzo, Chiusi, and Perugia).
