The Pineta Dannunziana of Pescara, or Natural Reserve of Provincial Interest, is known as Parco D’Avalos. The reserve is evidence of the ancient forest that covered much of Abruzzo. In the protected Reserve there are many species of flora characteristic of the Mediterranean scrub now in danger of extinction.
