The wedding forest in the municipality of Heidenau has been growing steadily for decades. The first planting took place in 1991 – by couples who were married in 1990. Today, the forest covers approximately 30,000 square meters and now comprises almost 400 trees, including 60 fruit trees in an idyllic orchard.

The former Flethmühle mill dates back to the 19th century. It was renovated in 1979. Today, it houses a hotel, a restaurant, and the offices of the Buxtehuder Tageblatt newspaper. The hotel and restaurant offer a magnificent view of the Fleth canal and Buxtehude's old town. Several cafes, restaurants, and boutiques are also located nearby. A visit is highly recommended.

The forest paths near Ahrensmoor are easily navigable. The surrounding forest is beautiful to behold.

At 65 meters above sea level, the Litberg is the highest elevation in the Stade district. The Gauß observation tower is located in the middle of the forest. Climbing 133 steps, you'll be rewarded with a magnificent view of the surrounding countryside. Plenty of benches invite you to linger, and there are swings for children.
