former Pelino bivouac, work on the new refuge

The Vallone bridge represents a connection between the paths that lead to the upper part of the Orfento Valley and the circular ones that start from the Caramanico visitor center.

The Pelino bivouac is one of the most famous bivouacs, if not the bivouac, in the Apennines. It is spartan and essential: eight wooden planks on which to place the mattress and spend an unforgettable night at an altitude of 2,700 metres. There are few places from which you can see the sun rise over the Adriatic and set over the Tyrrhenian Sea. A unique place that is worth all the effort to reach it.

The great Monte Mileto, a pearl of the Majella National Park. It can also be reached by bicycle from Passo San Leonardo.

From here you can enjoy a privileged view of Morrone immersed in the lunar landscapes of the Maiella

At the visitor center you can get all sorts of information, and it is also the starting point for some beautiful hikes.

The grandeur of the Orfento Valley can be fully perceived along this path, with incredible passages that wind along the edge of the valley, offering breathtaking views. Once you reach the bridge, the crystal clear water of the Orfento almost touches your shoes, accompanying you to the end of the itinerary, where you dive into the deepest part of the gorge.
