In addition to the town centre, the history of the ancient village is particular, abandoned following a landslide in 1885. The old town was in fact an innovative example of architecture and a town founded on some ideas centered on socialist philosophy. Abandoned following a landslide in 1885, Campomaggiore Vecchio was a small village from the Roman era, founded on a military camp. The municipal velodrome is a sports facility in the municipality of Oppido Lucano in the province of Potenza dedicated to track cycling and 5-a-side football. It was inaugurated in 2002 and immediately recognized as an Olympic velodrome by the International Cycling Union of Paris.
