Hořín is a Baroque chateau with farm grounds in the municipality of the same name in the Mělník District in the Central Bohemian Region. The chateau is surrounded by a large chateau park of approximately 10 hectares. The chateau, along with the grounds and the chateau park, are protected as a cultural monument. After the Velvet Revolution, the chateau and the surrounding land were restituted by the Lobkowicz family of Mělník. In 2024, Jiří Lobkowicz sold the chateau.

Hořín is a picturesque village in the Mělník district with a rich history, dating back to 1319. The dominant feature is the Baroque Lobkowicz Castle from 1696. The unique Mělník - Vraňany navigation canal with a lock from 1905 also passes through here.

Not necessarily recommended as a continuation of the cycle path to Prague. The scenery is beautiful, but not so easy with regular bikes and panniers, especially when it's wet and slippery. The original cycle path via Vodochody - Drasty - Klecany does include 100 meters of elevation gain, but this is easily manageable on a good road.

In wonderful weather with the best views of the Vltava!

If you have time (and a few euros to spare), you should take a look inside the church. It's very impressive.

Recommended at any time of year. Following the Vltava River northward on a paved bike path, off-road, is a wonderful experience. On weekends, the bike path is busy with excursions.
