The small church of St. Sebastian is idyllically nestled in the tranquil landscape near Aschering and exudes a special atmosphere of contemplation and history. Surrounded by nature, it is a beautiful place for a short break, to breathe deeply and pause for reflection.

The lake was created at the beginning of the 20th century during the construction of the Ländkanal (a canal) and the extension of the Isar-Werkkanal (a canal). During construction, an old channel of the Isar River was separated from the main river and partially filled in in the southern part. The resulting lake was further enlarged by gravel dredging for the canal's embankments. At the northern end of the lake stands the Hinterbrühl lock keeper's house, and at the southern end, the statue "The Isar Raftsman."
