Collado de los Jardines is an archaeological and natural site located in Santa Elena, in the province of Jaén. This place is known for its historical and cultural significance, especially for the Iberian votive offerings found in the Cueva de los Muñecos (Cave of the Dolls). These votive offerings are small bronze figures that the ancient Iberians offered to their gods as part of their religious rituals. Collado de los Jardines is located in the Despeñaperros Natural Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty that offers various hiking trails and opportunities to observe the local fauna and flora.

The Sanctuary of the Virgin of the Head is located in the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park. This sanctuary is one of the oldest in Spain, with a history dating back to the 13th century. It is known for its impressive Gothic architecture and religious significance, making it a very popular pilgrimage site. Every year, on the last weekend of April, a pilgrimage is held in honor of the Virgin of the Head, attracting thousands of pilgrims from all over Spain. During this festival, devotees climb the Cabezo hill, where the sanctuary is located, to pay homage to the Virgin.

Since 1227, the date on which the apparition of the Virgin of the Head to Pastor Juan de Rivas is recorded, the celebration of the pilgrimage is commemorated on the last Sunday of April of each year, although the apparition took place on the night of the 11th. to August 12, 1227 in whose memory a kind of small pilgrimage is also celebrated on that date in the same Sanctuary of the Virgin of the Head.

The circular route that runs through this environment is ideal for exploring mining history and enjoying the views. It begins at the entrance to the town, ascending towards the area of the old El Guindo mining complex. From there, you head to the Hill of the same name, the highest point on the route, which offers impressive views of the area.

At one of the last elevations of Sierra Morena we find this town of Aldeaquemada, where all of its valleys and mountains head south towards the great plain of the Río Guadalquivir. In the middle of the center we find its square, cobbled and square where we find the town hall and its church.

Incredible views over the geological mountain gorge that joins La Mancha and Andalusia within the Desfiladero de Despeñaperros Natural Park. Going down the Despeñaperros river is fun, but save energy for the climb.
