If you're tackling the Yorkshire 3 Peaks trail, be sure to stop by the snack bar at Philpin Campsite. Open on weekends from late April to the end of September (Saturday 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM and Sunday 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM), this spot offers a range of refreshments including toast with a hot drink (£4.50), cup-a-soup with a bread roll (£1.20), and an all-day breakfast (£7.00). Closed after a rainy day hike...soul destroying event that I don't think I will be able to recover from! Caught it open two days later. Not much there by way of coffee, or cakes. Plenty of stickies and ice cream though. More than anything it is a stunning location, the owners are charming, and has outside seating.

Cracking location, a nice looking hostel in a top spot. Nice to see them flying the flag of St. George too, and that's a Welshman saying that. This place would make a fortune too if it sold coffee and cake in this location!

Hag Dyke, on the slopes of Great Whernside in a stunning location, is a hostel administered by Ben Rhydding Scout and Guide Group in Ben Rhydding. The hostel was donated to the group in 1947. The building is quite old. It was originally a farmhouse and occupied at least as far back as 1730. The kitchen area in the house is the oldest. At 1,525 feet, the house is believed to be in the highest position of all the houses in what used to be West Riding.

There is a sign here with the encouraging message that you are halfway through Alfred Wainwright's Coast to Coast trail.

Hey, David. I was riding up there when they were filming. Some dishevelled woman with a hat crossing the road in front of me. Approach from Kirby Stephen, Swaledale or Reeth. Beware a westerly when travelling from Reeth. The climb can take over an hour & be grindingly tough |-<

Good overnight stop point, with shared bunk rooms as well as doubles. Downhill after breakfast.

Best inn ever ! perhaps of the outside weather but warmth and nice people inside is better than rain and wind outside !

Britains highest public house. A remote traditional English pub and Inn, which sits high in the Yorkshire Dales just north west of Reeth, Swaledale. With a good selection of food and drinks it serves as a perfect pit stop if you're doing any sort of activity on the Pennine Way. It gets real busy during the summer holiday season.

Great place to stop and get some refreshments.....If they are not filming an episode of Vera that is!!
