Nice little place to stop

The refuge is located in the Lessinia Regional Natural Park and is well suited as an intermediate stop and refreshment point for the many excursions that can be done in the surrounding area. In summer it can be reached by car, motorbike or on foot, while in winter with cross-country skis and snowshoes thanks to the groomed trails.

We searched for the trailhead but were unsuccessful. The cause is likely due to lack of maintenance. On the Komoot map it is marked as more than a simple trail (usually indicated by a solid black line). Map to be updated.

Columnar basalt with pentagonal and hexagonal section. Columns tens of meters high originating from eruptions in the Oligocene and subsequent slow cooling of the magma inside the volcanic chimney. Visible in the center of San Giovanni Ilarione and brought to light from a quarry that has been in disuse for about a century.
