A small, stony stretch of beach at the end of the hiking trail. It's a wonderful place to sit and listen to the waves.

It is also called Aphrodite's Rock and is a large rock mass.

One of Cyprus's most famous stretches of coastline and the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite. The coast here is particularly striking: turquoise waters, impressive rock formations, and a wide, white pebble beach. Cyclists will find it worthwhile to stop here because of the spectacular scenery and the peaceful spot behind the rocks. The best time to visit is early morning or late afternoon for the most beautiful light.

This is where the "foam-born", i.e. Aphrodite, is said to have first stepped ashore.

"According to legend, Aphrodite, the ancient Greek goddess of beauty and love, emerged from a shell at this spot, which she was washed up on this very beach in during a storm. The gigantic rock formations at this spot also appear in another, somewhat more recent legend, according to which the rock formations were hoisted to this spot by the Byzantine hero Digenis Akritas to keep out the Saracens from the north of the Arabian Peninsula (7th-10th centuries). The name Petra tou Romiou (Greek 'Rock of the Greeks') comes from this very hero. It is said that under certain weather conditions, the waves rise, break, and form a column of water, which then dissolves into foam. For a moment (and with a lot of imagination), the observer can see a transient, vanishing human figure. According to other popular legends, swimming around the rock three times brings many blessings, including eternal youth and beauty, happiness, fertility, and the true love." Men were certainly at work this Saturday 1 February (Seems little progress 2 years on from being thwarted on reaching Pissouri Bay on this route)

I'm surprised that there hasn't been a highlight about this yet. The construction site on the B7 has been there for a few years and you can see it on komoot and Google Maps. Since we've already had the experience a few times that it is actually possible to ride through a construction site as a cyclist, we tried it here too. Not least because the detour would be a bit complicated or would take place on the motorway. So we drove to the construction site and into it, but were ultimately held up by the construction workers because there is a huge hole in the road. I have no idea what it's like at the weekend when there isn't any work going on, but there was no way for us to get through. So the only options left were the detour over the mountains or the shortest option via the motorway. We took the motorway, which has a very wide shoulder and wasn't too busy.
