St. John's Church on the Imberg, Salzburg Halfway between Steingasse and the Capuchin Monastery is the oldest church on the right side of Salzburg's Old Town: the listed St. John's Church on the Imberg. What's so special about this church? The name of this small, single-nave church, first documented in 1319, goes back to an old name for the Kapuzinerberg (Imberg). The core of the small church is Romanesque; it was remodeled in the Baroque style in the 17th century. The high altar is still adorned with a painting, much of which dates back to 1681.
