Waldenburg Castle sits majestically high above the Hohenlohe Plain, its walls, towers, and overall complex dominating the townscape. From the terraces and walls surrounding the castle, sweeping views of the landscape unfold – an impressive blend of history, architecture, and panorama, and one of the highlights of any tour around Waldenburg.

St. Kilian's Church in Sülzbach was built around the year 800 and is thus considered the mother church of the Weinsberg Valley. Originally, it was a fortified church, as the tower dates back to around 1200, when it also served as a defensive tower. The nave, however, was built between 1616 and 1619. Inside, the ceiling is a coffered design, with each of the 210 panels featuring a different motif. In the churchyard, against the southern wall, stands a replica of the penitential cross erected by Michael Beheim. Beheim, born in 1416, was the mayor of Sülzbach, a Meistersinger (a type of singer), a chronicler, and a soldier. He was likely murdered by highwaymen around 1474 on the road to Lehrensteinsfeld.

The town hall in Sindringen is a charming building in the heart of the historic town center—simple yet full of character. In front of the town hall stands an artfully arranged ladder decorated with lovingly crafted bird figurines—a quiet, cheerful detail in the townscape.

The Würzburg Gate is one of Forchtenberg's historic city gates and an impressive example of medieval urban architecture. 🏰🚪 It is located at the eastern entrance to the old town and was once part of the city fortifications that protected Forchtenberg from attacks from Würzburg. With its massive masonry, characteristic round arch, and adjacent half-timbered houses, it still exudes strength and history.

Nice, yes, but you don't necessarily have to stop here (unless you were sitting in the pub next door and connected the whole thing)

The Hofgarten is Öhringen's premier local recreation area. It's beautifully designed and, thanks to its many paved paths, easily accessible by road bike. However, it's very busy on nice weekends.

The center of the old town is the very attractive market square with its Easter fountain and the iconic collegiate church. If you're out and about, you can take a short break and enjoy the view. Otherwise, avoid it by bike due to the cobblestones.
