Super fun section of black trail- there are a few technical sections but also some really smooth dirt berms.

Rated as a black trail, suitable for expert mountain bikers, the Ridge Ride Extreme is an extra loop that you can tack onto the red trail or session as you like. It starts with a steep rock garden before a rooty right-hander takes you down a rather natural-feeling trail with a few large roots to navigate. After a flatter rock garden around the next corner, you then hit a smoother, more manicured singletrack trail that flows down the hillside with a series of corners. The way back up is no joke with a steep doubletrack fire road pedal, or should that be push?!

Narly first section

Here you can hire mountain bikes for riding at Haldon Forest Park and enquire about the Segway tours that operate here. It's right next to the cafe, car park, play area and toilets so there's plenty of facilities for all the family. Bike servicing is also offered here, so if your mountain bike could do with a little TLC, it's a great place to come. At the end of the ride, make the most of the bike wash too (a small charge applies), so that's one less thing to clean when you get home! After leaving the trail centre on the blue-rated Kiddens Trail, this is the first descent on the loop. Zig-zagging down the hillside to the south, this is a brilliant singletrack weaving between tree stumps before a couple of bermed 180 degree turns. Let off the brakes and enjoy, this is one of the best descents at Haldon Forest Park.

Step ups, boardwalk, drop offs, berms and tabletops; there are a few different things to practice here in a small area. Most features are progressive, so you can start small and work on your technique before building up to bigger obstacles. Make sure you keep an eye on what other riders are doing in this area to avoid any accidents.
