The official hiking trail ends in the forest. In March 2025, it was still passable towards the Bodden lagoon, requiring a crossing of the ditch at the end. After the winter of 2026, in March the drainage ditches in the forest were quite full, and there was a lot of mud alongside them. I turned back.

The path is a dream for cyclists heading to the west beach. Hikers who find e-bikes too strenuous can take the narrow path parallel to the beach, which is a particularly nice alternative in summer (it's right next to it).

A cormorant colony can be observed in the bare trees.

A great, natural, wild forest. Please note: the path actually ends after a short stretch and is no longer maintained after that. The direction of the Bodden is barely visible. It is easy to get lost here. GPS is very helpful here

Not suitable for Road bike

From the Bodden side you can hardly see the access to the "path" (only with a hiking app): water, swamp and trees lying across. Very “homey”. Even after that, it's easy to get lost. The path then becomes increasingly a path towards Ahrenshoop. I can only recommend the forest. A real jungle for fairy tales or horror films. A highlight next to the Baltic Sea and Bodden.
