This is a good easy trail to do as a family

Here you can hire boats and visit the cafe. It's a beautiful location offering stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. While entry is free, patrons are encouraged to purchase a drink if taking photos. The café is praised for its extensive tea selection and delicious homemade treats like scones and sticky toffee pudding. It's also dog-friendly.

Great views of the mere

Gravel or MTB off-road route from Grasmere to Rydal, avoiding busy section of twisting main road. One section requires your to walk/carry bike. Connects nicely with backroad from Rydal to Ambleside, again avoiding traffic. Gets quite busy with walkers so best attempted in non-peak times.

This is a quaint little tea garden with lovely views of the lake. Worth a visit.

Sit down, enjoy a perfect cup of tea and maybe a few biscuits, and enjoy the view on Grasmere. Opening times depend upon the weather, but if you are as lucky as we were and manage to arrive her at good weather, you will find yourself transported into another world. Fancy taking a boat out? You can also rent boats here and explore Grasmere via water. Or just watch everyone else row while you buy another cup... and another...
