The Kellertor (...) was one of a total of ten historic Potsdam city gates. (...) In 1788, King Frederick II had the Kellertor, bridge and canal rebuilt into a picturesque ensemble, (...) The imposing Kellertor guard, with its ten columns, was designed as a point-de-vue of the line of sight from the bend in the main traffic route at the former Berlin Bridge. Two grenadiers and a royal tax official who collected the excise on goods imported by water were stationed in the guard. In 2015, the city sold the property to a private owner with the condition that the house be reconstructed to scale and profile.
