The highlight image shows the memorial to the Hunswinkel Labor Education Camp (AEL) from World War II, which was built for the construction of the Verse Dam. Germans, Jews, and Soviet forced laborers were housed here and later executed in the final days of the war. The AEL now lies at the bottom of the Verse Dam.

The Versetalsperre is a medium-sized dam in the Märkischer Kreis district of North Rhine-Westphalia. Located on the western edge of the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge Nature Park, the small river Verse has been dammed to form the Versesee with a dam south of Lüdenscheid since 1952. The purpose and reason for the construction of the Versetalsperre is to raise the low water level of the Ruhr, which is centrally controlled by the Ruhr Association in Essen. From the parking lot you can see the beautiful Klamer Bridge.

The Versetalbrücke is actually called the Klamer Bridge and spans the Versetalsperre in front of Klamer Bay.
