If you want to pay the stunning Ölkky canyon a visit, this is your location to go. You can reach the trailhead by bus, but there is also a decent parking lot. Decide for yourself, if you want to hike the trail around Julma-Ölkky clockwise or counterclockwise. Either way, you can start or end your hike with a treat from the summer café.

Not far from the Värikallio cliff is Julma Ölkky, a long, canyon-like lake overlooked by spectacular craggy cliffs. The suspension bridge allows hikers to climb up one side of the lake and down the other, but the best views of the canyon are from the water.

The suspension bridge over the Julma Ölkky Gorge is a real highlight in the national park. So you can shorten the circular hike around the gorge to five kilometers. The view into the gorge is definitely worth the descent to the bridge.
