Vrana Lake Ornithological Reserve

€5 is charged here and the ticket is supposedly checked around the lake. I bought one, drove around the lake and wasn't checked anywhere. Everyone who met me didn't have a ticket at all and told me that there wasn't a ticket office anywhere near the entrance. So very strange, apparently only here at this point. Some didn't stop but just kept going and saved themselves the "strange ticket purchase"...

The Prosika Canal is an 800m long connection between Lake Vran and the Adriatic Sea with the Pirovacki Zalev. It was built between 1752 and 1770 for the purpose of reclamation of the swampy Vransko area. The work was initiated and started by Prince Franjo Borelli Vranski and continued by his descendants. When the 3m wide canal was finished and the final breakthrough was made, the wave of water swept all the way to the town of Betina on Murter and the level of Lake Vrana dropped permanently by 3m. In 1948 the canal was widened to 8m, a threshold was built on the Adriatic side, 30cm above sea level and a collecting basin for migratory eels, catfish, mullet and carp. Today only remnants of it remain. On the side of the lake is a small harbor and the buildings of the nature park.

We have been coming to this place for many years. It's always nice. It used to be very simple and rustic, but today it is more adapted to the times. Very nice owners and a very good meal. Excellent olive oil is available for purchase. A must for anyone in the area.

Small nature reserve, interesting for bird watchers and ornithologists. The path on wooden planks is 600 m long in one direction. Entrance fees: 30 kuna adults, children over 7 cost 15 kuna, family ticket 70 kuna. Cash only.

It still exists and the vesper platter is very tasty and plentiful. You get garlic, onion and tomatoes and a wooden board in a separate basket and cut everything yourself. Is rustic but absolutely suitable for this place. The seating is all different and facing the lake. An idyllic place. There is also a campsite on the site, which is very natural and blends in well with nature (no parcels). We found it very nice to eat.

The parking lot is free

The Vransko Jezero Nature Park is chargeable. There are three main stations around the lake Ornithological reserve, the Kamenjak viewpoint and the Prosika port. You get tickets that you should keep to present them at the other stations. At each station you can buy tickets, currently the adult costs 20 kuna. More information at www.pp-vransko-jezero.hr
