The reservoir of the 'Ry de Rome' (Ry = small river) contains 2,200,000 m3 of water and is supplied by 3 rivers: the 'Ry de l'Hermitage', the 'Ry des Serpents' and the 'Ry de Rome'. The history of this dam starts in 1941. In order to always have access to sufficient drinking water with a constant flow rate, even in periods of drought, the municipalities of Couvin, Dailly and Presgaux decided to set up an intermunicipal water company and to build a dam on the protected area of the 'Ry de Rome.' In 1975 the dam was finished and later also adapted to the current quality standards with the construction of a water treatment plant
