Mylau Castle with Museum. Monument. In the Saxon Vogtland region, Mylau Castle, in its present form, is the largest preserved medieval fortification. The Gothic market gate was only built after 1400.

There are also southern and northern escape gates. Thus, the outer bailey functioned as a town wall. Lion Gate: This is the oldest gate in the castle. Squires' House: This extension likely dates from the 14th century. Red Tower: The lower floors were built after 1200. Bastion: A shell tower served to protect the castle from external threats. Courtyard Gate: A second gate was built in the defensive wall of the lower castle around 1400. Keep: The Romanesque keep was built at the highest point of the ridge for defense and protection. Fourth Tower: Built after 1200, it was possibly destroyed in a feud around 1400. South Wing: It was built in its present form from 1471 onwards. Clock Tower: This slender tower, also called the Bell Tower, was built shortly after 1200.

This road takes you along a well-paved road over the ridge and through the forest. If you're carrying the momentum downhill, you'll need to be careful at the junction, as it changes to firm, light gravel for about 300m. After that, there's a barrier. At the next village entrance, there's a constant layer of gravel. In the village of Lange, you can easily bypass the construction site on the left.
