St. Afra's Church stands on a slight rise in the center of Neckargerach and is recognizable from afar by its striking, light-colored tower. The building appears simple, yet inviting.

Coming from Katzenbuckel, the route is initially car-free for several kilometers. Scenically attractive, and despite some damage to the surface, it's still suitable for road bikes, even downhill.

Great climb in the lower part with a ramp, then rather moderate

Very beautiful and no motorcycles on the road! (Compared to the equally beautiful but busy L3108.

The Guttenbach Dam is an interesting destination on the hike. It regulates the Neckar River and offers a beautiful view. The area around the dam is quiet and idyllic, a perfect place to stop for a moment and enjoy the scenery.

It consists of a double lock on the right bank, a three-span weir, and a hydroelectric power station on the left bank. The facility was originally built in the 1930s and later modernized to optimize lock operation and energy generation. A special highlight is the lock and weir bridge, which offers wonderful views of the Neckar River and the surrounding area. However, you should be free from vertigo, as the bridge is made of gratings that allow you to look directly into the depths.

The church is a protected cultural monument... Further details: "The hall church consists of a nave, a recessed, semi-circular choir in the south, which is flanked by extensions, and a facade tower in the north. Its top floor houses the bell tower, in which five church bells hang, behind the sound arcades designed as biforia. The dials of the tower clock are housed in the gables above. An eight-sided pointed helmet rises above it. In 1968/70 the church was extended according to a design by Manfred Schmitt-Fiebig. The church furnishings include a late baroque high altar designed by Lorenzo Quaglio, which comes from the destroyed Capuchin Church in Mannheim. Of the old church furnishings, a crucifixion group from the 18th century stands in the nave. The organ was built in 1973 by Johannes Klais Orgelbau."
