A beautiful beach with a long jetty, restrooms, and places to relax. We also did a short 1 km loop. Ample parking is also available.

Wonderful to walk, especially with an old dog

I planned to stay there over night. Unfortunately, the place war completely occupied by a group of drinking, shouting men from Germany. It was a group of about ten men. I preferred to go on… Ps. I heard from somebody else, that those ten men were planning to stay there a week!

Bolmen is the largest lake in the western part of Småland in Sweden. It is located about 80 kilometers south of Jönköping. The name Bolmen comes from Old Swedish (Swedish Fornsvenska) and is dated to 1689. At that time it was called “Bollmen Lacus”, which means “Big Lake” (Swedish: Storsjön). In the meantime, a shelter has been converted into a shelter. Is perfect for a night directly at the Bannvalleden without having to pitch a tent. Didn't find any sign, notice or anything to indicate that it costs money to stay overnight, as another comment said.

The Bolmia cable ferry operates between the island of Bolmsö in Lake Bolmen and Sunnaryd. It is the longest cable ferry in Sweden and connects the island of Bolmsö in Kronobergs län with Sunnaryd in Jönköpings län over a distance of about 1 km. The crossing over Lake Bolmen takes ten minutes, takes place directly on site after a small telephone request and is free of charge. The ferry connection to the island, called Bolmsöleden, has existed since 1872. Until 1927 it was operated with rowing boats, after which the first motor-driven ferry was used. A larger motor ferry running from 1950 was replaced in 1969 by the Bolmia, which was put into operation by the Vägverket road authority in Stockholm as Färja 62/285. The assembly of the ship took place after prefabrication of the parts directly on site. In 1992 the ferry was taken over by Färjerederiet Vägverket (later Trafikverket Färjerederiet) and was named Bolmia in the process.
