Foehn harbor, Brunnen When the Gotthard road was built in 1830, transit traffic received a huge boost. Travelers could now travel by boat to Flüelen and then use the stagecoach to the Italian border. The weather, including the sometimes unpredictable foehn, was a familiar companion.
