Built as a fully reconstructed villa rustica based on a Roman model, it provides visitors with an authentic picture of life in the Roman Empire. The former abbey in Mettlach is the headquarters of the Villeroy & Boch company. It came into the family's possession after secularization. The abbey church was demolished in 1819, except for the "Old Tower".
