Oddly enough, not much radio or television is broadcast from that transmission tower. Only Rock Antenne Hamburg on 106.8 MHz and several DVB-T2 bouquets are transmitted. Not even DAB+ is broadcast, and I couldn't find any mobile phone signal on the tower either. The mobile internet and telephone service, by the way, comes from all the antennas on the chimney of the Stapelfeldt waste incineration plant.

Always worth a stop. It's interesting to see what some pilots do with their flying machines. There are plenty of benches on site to observe the hustle and bustle.

There are 3 such hills/mountains here - there is only a path up one of them. The three peaks of the Wartenberge are important witnesses to the geological past of our country. They were formed during the most recent glaciation at the end of the Weichselian glaciation around 19,000 to 17,000 years ago. The Wartenberge are isolated peaks in a flat ground moraine landscape. This glacial landscape was characterized by numerous Nordic boulders, which were used by people as valuable building material.

There is an old telephone booth by the lake - books are kept here. Anyone can take a book out and put one in too.

In the Menzel family farm shop you can buy products from the farm and the partner farms in the neighboring communities. The farm shop is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! In the range you will find seasonal products, freshly harvested from the field, straight to the shop. The range varies depending on the season. Just take a look. The Instenkate is the last thatched cottage in Meilsdorf. It used to be a so-called smoke cottage. That was the name given to the simple farm workers' houses in which the smoke from the open fireplace escaped through the thatched roof. There was no chimney. And today? Behind the historic facade lies a high-tech building. Solar collectors, a ventilation system with heat recovery and wood-glass elements make the former Instenkate a modern residential building. Insten were farm workers without their own property. In the 18th century, landowners built so-called Insten houses, which they made available to their farm workers. The cottage is a two-post house, the smallest variant of the Low German hall house. People and animals lived there under one roof. The Instenkate originally stood in a different place. The house was built in Ahrensburger Beimoor, a good ten kilometers away. Around 1792, the half-timbered building there was demolished and rebuilt in Meilsdorf. The cottage was inhabited until 1940. After that, it served as a barn, eventually stood empty and fell into disrepair. From 2010 onwards, new owners renovated the building. The half-timbering was dismantled again. The numbered and cleaned timbers were left to dry for a summer. During this time, a new foundation was built with a modern, thermally insulated wooden support structure on top. The old half-timbered walls were finally rebuilt around this construction.
