Cycling is the best way to get around all the monuments and natural sites around Ninh Binh. There are secure parking lots (for a fee) in several locations, so you can leave your bike without any worries.

The Thaí Vi Temple dates back to the 13th century. It can be visited free of charge. An old man plays traditional instruments there, creating a lovely atmosphere. In the courtyard, there are several temple dogs with bells around their necks.

Here you can embark on a great short rowboat ride through the dry Halong Bay. It's also a lovely place to sit by the water and relax from the hustle and bustle of the city.

This vantage point is simply magnificent, even if it's often crowded and the 500 uneven and sometimes high steps are quite arduous to climb. But you can hardly get a more beautiful view of the dry Halong Bay than from up here. There are also nice photo opportunities down in the rice fields.
