オーストリアのドナウサイクリングロードは、ヨーロッパにおけるサイクリングロードインフラの「ゴールドスタンダード」と言えます。ヨーロッパのユーロヴェロルート6の一部であるため、標識は非常に整備されていますが、一見すると様々なロゴのために少し複雑に見えるかもしれません。橋や発電所の近くには、「ドナウ渡り」という特別な標識があり、ルートがそこからより美しかったり短かったりする場合に、反対側への行き方を示してくれます。

From the banks of the Danube, you can enjoy a view of the Abwinden-Asten power plant, one of the largest run-of-river power plants in Austria. The facility extends over 252 meters and consists of nine Kaplan bulb turbines with a total output of 168 MW. The low-rise design of the powerhouse, which blends seamlessly into the surroundings, is particularly striking. A cycling path runs directly past the power plant, offering both close-up views and photo opportunities. For nature lovers, the fish bypass, opened in 2020, is a highlight, as it allows fish safe passage upstream and supports the ecological sustainability of the power plant. The surroundings along the banks of the Danube are particularly attractive for cyclists who want to enjoy the combination of technology, landscape, and nature.
