The approximately two-hectare city moat is located in the heart of Wolfenbüttel. The body of water, which is the size of two large football stadiums, is used for a variety of purposes, which, however, also results in a lack of suitable refuges for rare (aquatic) animals and plants. The historic building on the edge of Wolfenbüttel's city moat has been up for sale since the end of 2023. But finding a new owner doesn't seem to be quite so easy—the price has even been reduced.

For 135 years, the water tower has been part of the Lessingstadt's cityscape, particularly shaping the landscape around the city moat. The tower has long since ceased to serve as a water reservoir. Rather, it offers great potential as a residential or commercial building. The tall tower includes the so-called pump house, which was built next to the imposing water tower in the 1930s and has already been converted into a residential property. Quite simply, since the Beach Club was opened, Wolfenbüttel residents have been able to experience the beach feeling right in the heart of the Lessingstadt.
