The "Gatehouse in Rethwisch" refers to the gatehouse of the former Rethwischhof estate in the Stormarn district, which no longer exists, as the manor house was demolished in 2023. It is part of the estate's historical heritage and a starting and finishing point for a short hike, even though today only the gatehouse of the original estate can be seen.

St. Servatius Church in Selent stands close to Lake Selent in the north of Holstein Switzerland. Built around 1197, it is the northernmost church in Europe dedicated to St. Servatius. It is also the patron church of the surrounding estates of Lammershagen, Wittenberg, Rastorf, and Salzau Castle. Originally built as a late Romanesque hall church, it was expanded over the centuries into a Gothic church with a cruciform floor plan. Special features include the valuable Gothic winged altarpiece from 1470 and a panel painting from 1566 by the Dutch painter Pieter Aetersen entitled "Adoration of the Shepherds."

Lake Passad is one of the largest lakes in the Eastern Uplands of Schleswig-Holstein. It covers 2.7 km² and is up to 10.7 m deep. The lake is named after the neighboring town of Passade. Lake Passad is tributary to the neighboring, roughly equally sized Dobersdorf Lake and the eight times larger and comparatively deep Selenter Lake. This lake system drains via the Hagener Au into the Baltic Sea near Laboe on the Kiel Outer Fjord.

Even more natural is the Bottsand nudist beach, just a few hundred meters away, between the bird sanctuary and the Heidkate. The natural area features numerous protected areas in almost all protection categories. Only a small number of areas are designated as true nature reserves, including the Alter und Neuer See bird sanctuary south of Sulzheim-Mönchstockheim. Another larger area is the Dürrfelder and Sulzheimer Wald fauna-flora habitat, which is also one of the largest forest areas within the Steigerwald foothills. The area is also part of the Schweinfurt Basin and Northern Steigerwald Foothills bird sanctuary.

In 1874, the Counts of Schönborn acquired the farms through a sale and exchange. In 1926, Sapper, a Nuremberg academic, bought the estate. His family lived there until 1975. The buildings were subsequently acquired by the Beyer family. Today, Christmas trees are planted and sold across the country.
