The Nordermühle can already be seen in a depiction by the cartographer Daniel Friese from 1550/60. Once owned by the Meldorf Dominican monastery, after 1559 it apparently belonged to the governor Heinrich Rantzau; later it was administered as royal property by the Rent Chamber in Copenhagen. In 1435, a chapel dedicated to Saint George (Low German: St. Jürgen) was built in Heide.
