Unfortunately, the summit climb was difficult at the end of May due to the snow-covered Kaiseregg Pass. In spring, with persistent snow, it's only recommended for experienced and/or well-equipped hikers. Crampons and poles were a must for me!

A head for heights would be ideal, reasonably good shoes are not wrong and if you have trouble climbing up the lattice walkways and stairs, you should think again > the view down is really tough. At the foot of the tower there are several seating areas and fireplaces as well as a public toilet facility. In addition, the gastronomy is not neglected, a vending machine is tempting (for those who can't resist it or didn't have enough liquid with them). The routes are so diverse that it makes no sense to recommend which side to go up from, as they are very individual and dependent on performance. This way you avoid the hustle and bustle during the day and have the tower almost to yourself!

The Gantrisch is one of the most visited mountains in the entire region. When the weather is nice on a weekend, it can get quite crowded. From the two very large car parks at 1600m, the altitude difference to the summit at 2176m and the not too long route are manageable even for people with average fitness. We went from the Gurnigel watershed station to the Gantrischseeli and up the narrow path towards Gantrisch. This path is not signposted and is inconspicuous - you can hardly see it. We walked briefly on the wide road and after about 200 m we took the narrow zigzag path through the couloir to the ridge. Only do this if you are sure-footed. When wet it is slippery and very steep!!! From the ridge we go between the rocks, using our hands, up to the summit. A fantastic panoramic view stretching far into the French Alps.
