This somewhat unfortunate highlight's name is a section of the Naples cycle path. Ideally, you ride it uphill. The paved path isn't fun downhill, as it's simply too steep; you practically have to brake hard. The 1.7km route has a 160m elevation gain.

The Jena Botanical Garden is the second oldest botanical garden in Germany and is located on the outskirts of the city center of the university town of Jena, opposite the Thuringian University and State Library. It covers an area of 4.5 hectares and is used for educational and recreational purposes by the adjacent biological, pharmaceutical, and botanical institutes, as well as by the local community. The Jena Botanical Garden belongs to the Institute of Special Botany at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena and displays approximately 12,000 different plants in several heated greenhouses and open spaces. It is open to the public, the university, and students of all grades for classroom use.

The Zeiss Planetarium Jena, opened in 1926, was the brainchild of Oskar von Miller and realized with the Carl Zeiss company, which developed the first planetarium projector. After World War II, it remained intact as the world's oldest large-scale planetarium still in existence. Between 1983 and 1985, the planetarium was extensively modernized and expanded, with new projection and sound systems continually being developed. This technological evolution is reflected in four generations of star projectors, including the "Cosmorama," which now stands as a monument in the Goethe Gallery. The Europe Trail is certainly an important and beautiful highlight. However, I also think it's very important to mention that a key battle of the Napoleonic Wars, namely the Battle of Jena and Auerstedt, took place in this very area. Various plaques and memorial stones along the trail clearly document the sites of the military clashes.
