West Backa district, very good point to start road or gravel cycle tours across three countries: Serbia, Hungary, Croatia. Beautiful nearby small cities and villages along the river Danube.

Batina (Kiskőszeg): Soviet monument in connection with the Second World War. This is where the Soviet troops crossed the Danube in 1944, it reminds me of that the memorial on the river bank (Battle of Kiskőszeg). The monument, created by Antun Augustinčić, was erected in 1947 as a sign of gratitude and memory for the victims who fell during the decisive battles of November 1944 by the Soviet Army together with units of the National Liberation Army. Above the paved semicircular plateau, a 29-meter-high pillar with a rectangular floor plan, inlaid with stone slabs, dominates. At the top of the column is the symbol of victory, a seven-foot-tall, agile female figure with torch and sword in hand. Ten meters from the column, there are figures of Soviet soldiers carved in stone from all types of weapons of the army.
