The view is worth the climb. Not really suitable for people seeking solitude in the Jura mountains.

From Chabrey, you climb approximately 70 meters in elevation to Montmagny via the small pass through the Bois de Charmontel. Whether on foot or by bike, it doesn't matter; the formerly well-maintained road is now very quiet and in poor condition. The broken surface is now covered with grass, and in shady/damp spots, the road is overgrown with moss. The route appears to be lightly trafficked and offers plenty of variety thanks to its steady gradient, several curves, and exciting retaining walls, most of which are overgrown with moss due to the damp forest. A small rest area with a wooden table and benches invites you to linger at the beginning of the climb. As soon as you emerge from the forest, you have a clear view of the Montmagny water tower...an impressive structure, and earlier photos show that you had a fantastic panoramic view from the viewing platform. Unfortunately, the tower hasn't been accessible for several years (it was always closed in winter)!

Great view of Lake Neuchâtel and the Alps

Col des Neigeux is a scenic pass in the Swiss Jura, which offers panoramic views of the Alps and the valleys below. It is part of a moderate 11.8 mile loop that begins and ends at Hauts Geneveys station. The trail is ideal for bird watching, hiking, and mountain biking, and you can appreciate the cultural landscape of the area along the way. The best time to visit is from May to October, when the wildflowers are in bloom and the weather is pleasant.
