The most western point of Switzerland is there, between the trees and the rocks, marked by the legendary border marker n° 1 dating from 1816, the first of the 6638 markers along the Swiss border. On one of its sides, it bears the coat of arms of the Canton of Geneva, and on the other, that of the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia. It was used as a reference point by the engineer Guillaume-Henri Dufour to establish the topographic maps of Switzerland in the middle of the 19th century. The Chèvres footbridge is the eleventh bridge furthest upstream of the Rhône after its exit from Lake Geneva. It connects the village of Chèvres, located in the territory of the commune of Bernex, on the left bank, and the wastewater treatment plant of the commune of Vernier, on the right bank. The Chèvres footbridge was built in 1898 by Constant Butticaz. at the same time as the neighboring Chèvres hydroelectric plant which was demolished in 1947. At the same time, the footbridge was demolished and rebuilt.

Even though the public no longer has direct access to the experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), we found the visit to CERN extremely interesting. During the tour we booked, we were captivated by the lively explanations of a British scientist who was involved in the discovery of the Higgs boson and therefore had authentic information to offer. In addition to the well-designed museum, we even got a glimpse into the control room of the Atlas experiment. Conclusion: a very interesting excursion for those interested in science!

Permanent house of Compesières, occupies a special place among the castles of the region due to its role as Commander Johanniter. Of the original ensemble, only the residential wing has survived. The church and economic buildings were replaced by new buildings in the Middle Ages, and the outer walled enclosure that once protected the entire building complex has disappeared today.
