ここは超絶景

Around the middle of the 19th century, there was even talk of writing off Chillon Castle for demolition and using the stones in the construction of the railway. However, the landscape, the grand castle, and the romantic stories of the former prisoners had long captivated many, and interest in the monument's outstanding historical significance was also awakening. And so, more and more travelers visited the castle, which, from the 1820s onward, could also be viewed from the new steamships on Lake Geneva. While Rousseau had already chosen the castle as the setting for a key scene in his 1761 epistolary novel Julie ou la Nouvelle Héloïse, other writers, such as Victor Hugo and Alexandre Dumas, were inspired by the place, in addition to Lord Byron. The café next to the castle is now called "Byron." The French painter Gustave Courbet depicted Chillon several times during his stay on Lake Geneva, and Eugène Delacroix, who was influenced by Lord Byron's poems, as well as other artists, also painted views of the moated castle, the image of which became widely known through photography in the age of early tourism.

A great little hike with breathtaking views of the lake. There's a large section on tarmac depending on the route taken, but it's still a pleasant experience!

The trail away from the access road to the dam is easy to ride and partly paved.

The Alimentarium is located in the old Nestlé headquarters, a neoclassical building on the shores of Lake Geneva. This building dates back to 1867 and now provides an inspiring environment for the museum. The core of the museum programme is the permanent exhibition “Food – The Essence of Life”. The Alimentarium organises various activities, such as culinary classes, workshops for adults, children, groups, companies and schools. You can cook together and learn more about nutrition and food history. There are also special school activities to make students aware of the history, culture, science and technology behind our food. A futuristic escape game called AL2049 immerses you in a world of food and nutrition. A unique experience for visitors who enjoy a challenge. The Alimentarium also has a beautiful garden overlooking Lake Geneva. This garden is an integral part of the museum scenography and offers an idyllic location to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

The fork was probably a point of contention among the population for a long time before it could finally be installed and inaugurated.

What it means, however, is somehow a mystery to me 🤔
