The following legend has been told in the community of Hainspitz for several generations: The Mist Woman of Hainspitz From time to time, especially in autumn and during foggy weather, one sees a misty female figure floating from the Hainspitz Pond to the cornerstone at the former knight's estate. From that day on, the girl and the harpist saw each other more often and grew increasingly fond of each other. But they couldn't get together. One day, after the old knight had left the castle, the girl managed to get the keys to the drawbridge. She quickly lowered the bridge, and a few moments later, the girl and the harpist were in each other's arms. From then on, the knight's daughter took every opportunity to secretly meet her lover. It wasn't long, however, before the old knight learned of their secret affair and surprised them both. From that day on, the girl was never allowed outside, so that she was even denied a view of the castle ramparts. Then she fell into a melancholy mood. But the old knight soon ordered the wedding with the groom he had chosen. On the eve of the wedding, the old knight threw a wild feast with the groom, whom his daughter disliked. Late that night, when all the knights were drunk, the girl fled the castle. Since she absolutely did not want to become the wife of her father's drinking companion and knew no way out, she threw herself into the pond in despair.
