エッシェフェルダー池は、多様な鳥類の生息地として機能するユニークな文化的景観です。かつて修道士たちが漁業目的で造った池は、多くの、一部絶滅危惧種の鳥類にとって重要な繁殖地および休息地となっています。100種類以上の鳥類がここに生息しています。その多くは、たとえばズグロカモメ、カワセミ、ミミカイツブリ、そして非常に珍しいノドグロコマドリなど、絶滅危惧種のレッドリストに掲載されています。

The Elisabeth Spring is located in the Leinawald towards Penig near the Nobitz Aviation Museum. During GDR times, it was somewhat neglected due to the settlement of the Soviets. In 2021, it was brought back to life by an interest group and foresters. It can be visited 24 hours a day. The water from the spring is drinkable, but despite repeated analysis, it is not yet classified as drinking water.

Despite testing, the spring's water is not currently labeled as drinking water. During the GDR era, it was somewhat neglected due to Soviet settlement. It was rededicated in 2021.

Beautiful castle, formerly the residence of Münchhausen, now a youth hostel.

Old excavator shovel from the quarry pond & an information board behind it. The area is a nature conservation area & it is forbidden to leave the paths except at two marked bathing areas. You can still see trails leading to the water everywhere.

Very nice to rest.
