Ballaigues is indeed the first village in Switzerland for the pilgrim on the Via Francigena, who follows the route in the footsteps of Bishop Sigeric. In the year 990, Sigeric left Canterbury for Rome to obtain his pallium - a symbol of the authority of the archbishops - from the Pope

Ballaigues is a picturesque municipality where nature and mountains come together. It is the birthplace of historian and politician Paul Maillefer (1862-1929) and the final resting place of painter and violinist Louis Soutter (1871-1941). The altitude varies between 920 meters and 1,104 meters above sea level. Ballaigues has a mountain climate, characterized by harsh winters and high rainfall throughout the year.

The summit itself cannot really be reached by bike. You have to walk about five minutes. The short walk is worth it, you have a beautiful view.
