Anyone in Hannover-Kleefeld looking for a quick escape to nature will find themselves in the Eilenriede. This protected urban forest covers approximately 640 hectares and is divided into a northern and a southern section. The network of paths is well-developed and easy to navigate. Numerous benches, small ponds, and open clearings are located along the trails. The Eilenriede boasts around 80 km of hiking paths – perfect for a stroll during your lunch break or after work. In the Eilenriede, the city suddenly feels a world away.

A really beautiful singletrack with lots of flow from north to south. At the end, there's even an exciting S2 section with a steep part and a hairpin bend.

I came all the way from Braunschweig because of the Giesener Teiche area and was totally surprised by the multitude of possibilities/requirements!

The Giesener Ponds have been declared a nature reserve. Leaving the designated paths is strictly prohibited. This excludes informal trails. That's the official policy. In reality, however, people often wander off-trail and camp there. Who hasn't ridden a mountain bike on one of these trails...? So far, I haven't encountered any law enforcement officers there. As long as things aren't taken too far and no litter is left behind, it should be fine. Let's hope for the best in the future, that we can continue to enjoy this beautiful area.

A mountain bike arena right on Hildesheim's doorstep, with numerous trails for all skill levels. A former military training area has been transformed into a playground for everyone – a successful example of conversion. Please be mindful of walkers and their canine companions. 🐕
